For the Kids
Wallingford Center is an ideal place for the kids. Shop for toys and apparel at Bootyland Kids, featuring sustainably sourced and eco-conscious options in hip and trendy styles. Specially trained stylists provide haircuts in a child-friendly atmosphere at Lil’ Klipper’s. The Exploration Academy provides early childhood education and creative space for children aged 12-months to five-years.
For Supporting Local and Women-Owned Businesses
In a world of online shopping and big-box retailers, it’s never been more important to support small, local businesses. The shopkeepers at Wallingford Center look forward to serving their neighborhood clients, so stop by even if just to say, “Hello!” Not only are the shops primarily locally owned, but more than half of all businesses at Wallingford Center are owned, co-owned or run by women including: Trophy Cupcakes and Party, Bootyland Kids, Yazdi and Yazdi II, Crackerjack Contemporary Crafts, The Exploration Academy, Lil Klippers and the Edge, Richard’s Artistic Framing and Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy.
For Looking Good, Feeling Good
Need a haircut, color, or some fresh duds? Li’l Klippers and The Edge salons offer haircare and styling for the whole family. For apparel, Yazdi and Yazdi II, in missy & plus sizes, offer beautiful contemporary clothing in natural fabrics from all over the world, as well as an outstanding collection of jewelry and accessories. Crackerjack Contemporary Crafts focuses on design and craftsmanship to curate a collection of handcrafted jewelry, accessories, objects and clothing. Finally, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy offers sundries, prescription medicine and naturopathic solutions for whole-body care.
For the Food
Downstairs, Wallingford Center houses Chutneys Bistro, the best Indian eatery in the city! Enjoy the extensive lunch buffet and dine al fresco this summer on a menu of classic curries, Tandoori meats, and a full bar. Room for dessert? Trophy Cupcakes’ first location (celebrating 10 years in business this year) is just upstairs with seasonal cupcake flavors, a full espresso bar, an adorable selection of party goods, and recently launched French Macarons!
For Arts, Crafts, and Home Projects
Retail options also include many artsy shops for projects and gifts. Get your family photos or treasured works of art framed or restored at Richard’s Artistic Framing. At Crackerjack Contemporary Crafts, shoppers will find handmade gifts and artisan treasures, as well as jewelry and apparel, produced by over 200 American artists. On the street level, Tweedy and Popp Hardware is the city’s oldest hardware store selling merchandise for the entire home.
